PKR: Come clean on 'RM10k Raya bonus' for Air Kelantan board

State utility Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB) has been urged to confirm or deny a letter that has been widely shared online claiming that its board gave each member a bonus of RM10,000 in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

In a statement today, Kelantan PKR said that if the letter was authentic, then AKSB should explain the rationale behind the bonus payments and whether it commensurate with the targets achieved by the company in providing clean water.

According to the purported letter, AKSB had resolved to also provide a bonus of RM200 to every staff member and RM2,000 to the company secretary.

There are nine AKSB board members of which two are state legislative assembly members - Azami Mohd Nor (Kadok) and Abdul Rahman Yunus (Pasir Tumboh). Additionally, Azami is the state public works, infrastructure, transport and utility committee chairperson.

At the time of writing, requests for comments from AKSB through its official WhatsApp group with reporters were not replied to.

When contacted, Azami declined to comment on the matter.

"I have no comments. This matter is viral (on the internet). What can I do?" he said, curtly.

Poor track record

The purported letter has been shared on several major Facebook pages and has been met with ridicule from many social media users because Kelantan has a poor track record in producing clean tap water.

Meanwhile, Kelantan PKR council member Dr Rosli Allani S Abdul Kadir urged the Kelantan government to cooperate with Putrajaya to resolve the state's water woes.

"The state government should take drastic action to ensure cooperation between the federal and state governments that will result in clean water supplies.

"We must ensure that every sen is properly invested for the benefit of Kelantan's people," he said.
